(MIAMI, October 2, 2014) – In anticipation of Fire Prevention Week which runs from Oct. 5 through Oct. 11, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Fire Prevention Division in conjunction with the Florida Fire Sprinkler Association will conduct a side-by-side burn demonstration. The fire safety event will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 at the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Training Center located at 9300 NW 41 ST, Doral, FL 33178.
The demonstration is to raise awareness on the benefits of residential fire sprinklers and will showcase two identical rooms where fires are started; one room will contain a fire sprinkler system and another room will not. The purpose of this fire prevention event is to show the speed at which a fire spreads as well as how fire sprinklers can minimize fire spread.
Subject matter experts will be available to discuss fire safety tips to help residents protect their families at home, the myths and misconceptions about fire sprinklers, the life and property saving benefits of fire sprinklers and the importance of implementing fire sprinklers in homes.
